from the small town of Cluny, situated in the center of France. In this town, in the X century, Benedictine monks built the Abbey of Cluny. It was once the most considerable medieval monument in the Occident. The sober, austere, architectural style of the abbey inspired this pattern with its lines bereft of superfluous ornamentation.
