Christofle Perles cutlery in sterling
In general, during the second half of the XVIII century, ( and most particularly in silversmithing ), the most popular decorative style was an allignment of pearles in half-relief in a long mould. How well the sobriety and elegance of these little pearls allies itself to the different styles throughout the world which find inspiration in this period. The well studied economy of decor leaves room for engraving on the vast polished surface. The manner in which the pearles are chased, reminds us of a fine pearl necklace. Notice that the pearles are smaller on the upper part of the stalk than on the spatula.
