special pattern created by Koch & Bergfeld. It owes its name to the art historians, who have described it as the lily design from Bremen par excellence.
It was the well-known designer Hugo Leven – head of Hanau's State Academy of Drawing – who created a cutlery pattern in the "new" style for Koch & Bergfeld around 1900. Leven's cutlery illustrates Art Nouveau in a pure form: the slender lily detailing on the front and back demonstrates the fine art of precise tooling at Koch & Bergfeld. All lines of the ornamentation have been carefully worked in the silver and can be felt with the fingers. The lateral stems of the plant, which are worked freehand by the steel engraver, come together at the base to form a flower and give this silverware a stylish timeless character which is quite unique – a floral delight for every day of the week.
